Handmade Design, locally produced
Handmade design offers a value that we don’t often find in mass-produced items. Every product in our collection tells its own story: the idea behind the design, the small imperfections or variations, and the personal craftsmanship that make each piece truly unique. At IKONIC, we believe handmade design is more than just beautiful — it is sustainable, authentic, and full of character. On this page you’ll find works by designers such as Floris Hovers, Pepe Heykoop, Klaas Kuiken, and Maurice Doorduyn, all proudly made in the Netherlands.
Dutch Design by Floris Hovers
As you may have noticed, a large part of our collection consists of designs by Floris Hovers. Many of his works can also be found on this page. The creations originate in his studio in Raamsdonksveer, where his distinctive style comes to life: minimalistic, playful, and always colourful. Most of these designs are produced in Delft, at various workshops and in our own IKONIC studio. Here, the objects are crafted and assembled by hand. Local and small-scale production allows us to develop new designs easily and to add truly unique items to our collection. These are typically limited editions, ensuring that every piece remains special.
Within this category of handmade products there is one design made personally by Floris Hovers: the yellow mini cranes, crafted from clothespins, rope and metal springs. This edition is limited to 200 pieces, each hand-numbered on the underside.
Handmade: from vases to chairs
On this collection page you will find a wide variety of handmade design pieces: wooden vehicles and skylines by Floris Hovers, the remarkable “block chairs” by Pepe Heykoop, vases by Klaas Kuiken (made in Arnhem), and the colourful transparent cars by Maurice Doorduyn. Whether you're looking for a playful gift, a striking interior piece, or a collectible object, you’ll discover surprising handmade designs that will last for years.
Design by IKONIC – locally produced
Local production comes with many advantages. Transport distances are shorter, quality is easier to monitor, and the economic value remains within local communities. It is also highly sustainable, with a small ecological footprint and minimal transport emissions. All wooden objects are made using FSC-certified wood, and plastic waste from production is reprocessed into new items. For the block chairs by Pepe Heykoop, many of the wooden blocks are second-hand, sourced from thrift stores.
For true design enthusiasts
This handmade design collection is for anyone who wants to bring something special into their home. For design lovers who appreciate objects with a story — pieces made with care and craftsmanship. Whether you are a collector of numbered or signed works, a fan of Dutch Design, or simply someone looking for a truly unique interior piece, this collection offers designs you won’t find anywhere else.
The small-scale production is visible in every detail: from subtle variations in shape and colour to the signature or numbering on the underside, beautiful elements that give each object its own personality.
